Whew! We all survived this "gut-buster" trip consisting of a 16 mile trek over two days.
This
.pdf file contains maps showing the region
we hiked.
The weather co-operated by giving us clear skies but causing the nights to be bitterly
cold (low 20s F).
We started down the Pinhoti Trail from Road 500 across Dugger Mountain and reached our
goal at the Choccolocco dam just before dark, covering 10 miles. To our surprise and
delight, a shelter had been constructed at our camping area, which many of us used
to bunk for the night. The next day, we covered the remaining 6 miles down to the
Coleman Lake parking lot.
