2011 Camp Jackson
We loaded the troop trailer with our backpacks on Friday and headed to Camp Jackson near Scottsboro
for an overnight stay on our journey to the Walls of Jericho. Rain was forecast for the weekend, and
by 5:00am Saturday it was coming down with thunder all around. We got up and assessed the situation,
and the consensus of the adult leadership was that the planned trip would be soggy and unpleasant and
we probably wouldn't be able to go up to the Walls because of the heavy runoff from the rain. So we
stayed over at Camp Jackson, having the entire camp to ourselves, and enjoyed the platformed wall
tents which kept us high and dry. We built a great fire, and went on a hike up to the Pinnacle
above the camp, where we met this ancient terrible alligator turtle (at right).
